Announcement: Friendly Connections Looking for Volunteers

Description: Friendly Connections is a program of NE County Senior Ministry to support the independent living of seniors, while preventing isolation and loneliness within the senior population. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to take some time to help with this. If you are able to take a couple of hours out of your week to make phone calls, write a letter, or even visit someone at their home, we would love to talk to you and find out your interests as well. Even if you cannot leave your home, you could still be a blessing to someone else with just a phone call or a letter.

Event: Prayer Service to Mark 10th Anniversary of 9-11

Event will be held from 1 pm to 3 pm

Description: Join us to pray for the continued safety of the United States of America and those troops serving our country, and for everyone affected by the Sept. 11th tragedy and act of hatred 10 years ago. Through fellowship, prayer, and music, NE County Senior Ministry will honor the brave soldiers who keep us safe and free by praying the Patriotic Rosary. More information to follow.

 

Announcement: Yard Work

Description: With the spring season here, yard work begins again. Are you a homeowner 65 years or older and need assistance with yard work? Northeast County Senior Ministry will be hosting numerous groups of volunteers this spring and summer. They will be performing yard work, which may include, but is not limited to: raking leaves, cleaning gutters, and trimming bushes. We ask that homeowners supply the necessary tools for the task requested (ladders, rakes, lawn bags, etc).

Announcement: Lawn Mowing
Date: Ongoing
Description: Are you a senior who needs his or her lawn mowed? Northeast County Senior Ministry is now partnering with local church schools to provide a resource for this. Seventh to ninth grade youth will be performing this service for a small fee.
Registration: To get a list of youth who live near you, please contact Brion Abel at 314-664-9700. When calling, please specify whether or not you have a lawn mower available.

Event: Older Adults Deserve to Conserve: A Weatherization Program through Northeast County Senior Ministry

Description:Want to put a stop to the drafts from your windows and doors AND see a reduction in your utility bills? The Northeast County Senior Ministry will be providing and installing weatherization materials to older adults below 200% of the poverty line. Skilled volunteers will be caulking interior and exterior holes, cracks and crevices, installing water restricting faucet adapters and/or shower heads and installing window insulation and weather stripping.
