Sometimes even changing a light bulb is not easy for an older adult who is no longer comfortable or safe to use a ladder. Volunteers provide the expertise and skill to perform minor home repair and maintenance for senior homeowners whereby allowing them to live safely in their own homes as long as possible.
This program increases neighborhood engagement and safety with motion sensor lighting and landscaping, creating new opportunities for neighbors to socialize and engage within their neighborhood. In exchange for the lighting, the participants will commit to reach out to their community in some form to increase neighborhood engagement.
From flu shots, to exercise classes, to health screenings, our programs are invaluable in seniors. Our educational “Lunch and Learn” programs with health related topics are very popular. We also help with Medicare enrollment and benefits counseling.
Sometimes “just getting there” is the greatest hurdle an older adult is forced to overcome. The “Ready, Set, Go” program offers transportation for seniors 65 and older who need a ride to healthcare related appointments. Our volunteer drivers stay with our seniors during their appointments providing seniors “a ride without the worry.”
