VISTA Supervisor

Vista Volunteer SupervisorElizabeth (Liz) Roscano is the VISTA Supervisor of SGSM Network.  After receiving her Bachelor s in Social Work from Grand Valley State University, Liz enlisted in AmeriCorps*VISTA in hopes of securing a position with a nonprofit that was impacting poverty.  She secured the Housing VISTA position with SGSM and was among the first class of VISTA volunteers, moving to St. Louis from her home town of Detroit, MI.

Upon completing her year of service, she remained in St. Louis to pursue her Masters in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis.  During that time, she worked as the Director of Lindenwood Area Senior Ministry, a five church ecumenical ministry born from her VISTA year with SGSM Network.  This volunteer-based ministry mirrors SGSM Network’s programs in the Lindenwood Park Neighborhood of St. Louis empowering older adults to remain safely and happily in their homes.  Liz assisted in developing the foundation and roots of the ministry for the year she committed to the position.  While serving with LASM, Liz worked with Mission:  St. Louis (M:StL), a nonprofit organization committed to revitalizing St. Louis by building lasting relationships with neighborhoods in need.   She coordinated small and large scale volunteer-based projects and programs that sought to empower individuals to grow and develop in all aspects of their life.  Today, she remains an active volunteer with the organization.

Upon completing her MSW, Liz returned to SGSM Network as the organization’s first full time employee in March 2009.  During her free time, she enjoys regular visits to the gym, reading good works of literature, playing nearly any type of game or sport, and spending time with friends and family.
